A brief history

How it all started.

Founded in 2017, the Impactful was ahead of its time (we just didn’t know it yet, ha!). We started under the name MAG Impact Collective, and created a shared collective of 10 Founding Members who all had different and unique skills. A consortium of business owners, freelancers, and solopreneurs if you will. But all of us were connected by working in areas of social impact such as climate, global health, education, and technology. We then collaborated and teamed up to better service clients and match new and innovative services to our client’s needs.

This allowed us to do some really exciting, innovative work. We worked with organizations like Google for Nonprofits, Sabin Vaccine Institute & The Gates Foundation, PepsiCo, VIPKid, Rare.org, MindSpark, and Greenwave - an amazing regenerative ocean farm off the east coast.

Our projects included innovation workshops, leadership development, partnership strategy, and numerous branding, design, and marketing collaborations. All centered around helping organizations doing meaningful, impactful work - do it better, at scale, tell their story more effectively, and to have an even greater impact.

Our collective membership grew to 25 members from across the country and was a lifeline for many of us during the pandemic. When the pandemic hit, many of our members - some who had been running their own practices for 20 plus years - weren’t sure their businesses would survive. We were not immune to the challenges everybody and every business around the world faced.

But through collaboration, sharing of resources and ideas, we persevered. I’m proud to say not a single one of our 25 members had to close down their business over those tough few years!!

But through the pandemic, and coming out the other side, much had changed.

And so had we.

What came next?

And we continued to work with past clients and new ones - including best selling authors, universities, ed tech companies, carbon removal start-ups, and organizations working on climate change. Our collective community continued to innovate and launch new projects, services, and even companies. We won an Anthem (Webby) award for our work with a client on a climate project, and were recognized as a top Dallas design agency.

And we continue to work with organizations and companies of all sizes, working in areas of social impact.

And we’d love to know how we can help your company - reach out any time here.

Through the pandemic and watching not only markets change, but trends come ago (anyone remember Clubhouse?? NFT’s??), we lived through a time we as an organization had been frequently talking about, and helping businesses/clients understand: disruption, unsettling macro trends.

In the 7 years since we launched, much had changed. Through that reflection, we made a few exciting changes.

We rebranded to the Impactful and decided we wanted to further support soloprenuers, changemakers around the world and in doing so, made our collaboration community free for anyone to join. That allowed us to grow to the 108 members across 10 countries that we are today!

Our exciting road ahead.

While we continue to collaborate with organizations on strategy, branding, and storytelling projects, we have continued to watch our climate crises unfold, right before our eyes.

This has led us to put some small impactful climate projects out into the world, including a Climate Career Toolkit (Notion) to help anyone track and find a job in the climate space. This can be purchased at www.getclimb.co

We also have expanded our client services offerings to include climate strategy, mitigation and offsetting services. If you are struggling to understand how your business can adapt to climate change, reduce its footprint, or meet climate commitments, please get in touch - we can help.

And soon we will launch a big project in the climate adaptation space… we are really excited for this.

And if you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading about our evolution to date. As you can tell, we believe that even service providers need to adapt to what we offer, how we offer it, and how we structure our organizations in order to best support companies and individuals, and to adapt to life on a rapidly changing planet.

We can’t wait to share more of what we have in store for you in the coming weeks, months, and years.

For now, remember:

If you are a freelancer, solopreneur, join our free community to connect with others and collaborate on projects.

If your business needs help on strategy, branding, storytelling, or climate - we can help.

And if you are thinking about transitioning into a career in climate, don’t forget about our awesome Notion Climate toolkit, available here.

Thanks for being here.
